Nationwide warning day on 12.09.2024

A nationwide warning is triggered centrally by the federal government at 11 a.m. throughout North Rhine-Westphalia via the Modular Warning System (MoWaS). For the first time, in addition to the NINA app and radio, all administrative websites and authority hotlines can also be triggered nationwide. Sirens and the nationwide "Cell Broadcast" warning system are also being tested again. With "Cell Broadcast", warning messages can be sent directly to cell phones or smartphones. This "warning mix" is intended to ensure that as many people as possible receive the warning - by whatever means. "This year, the Kevelaer fire department will once again be making loudspeaker announcements," says Ludger Holla, Head of the Department of Labor, Social Affairs and Order at the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer.

What is the goal?

The aim of the nationwide day of action is to further sensitize people to the topic of warnings and to find out how well they are warned in Germany. Weak points are to be uncovered so that they can be rectified and even more people can be warned effectively and in good time in future.
