The representatives of the senior citizens' advisory councils of the municipalities in the district of Kleve met for the first time in November 2023 in Straelen town hall to exchange experiences. Many new insights were gained during the lively exchange. It was therefore decided to meet once a year in future.
The second meeting took place on 14.11.2024 in Kevelaer town hall. The senior citizens' councils reported on the many measures planned or already implemented.
For example, on the initiative of the senior citizens' advisory councils, the health fair was recently held in the Concert and Stage House, many municipalities have set up consultation hours for all citizens, safety training sessions for pedelec riders have been offered, emergency cards have been developed and emergency kits have been issued.
Also at the suggestion of the senior citizens' advisory councils, many municipalities have provided parking and waiting benches with emergency coordinates. Numerous events aimed at the needs of the older generations, such as on the topics of living wills and health care proxies, social assistance services in the municipality, grandchildren's tricks, fire safety, especially for charging batteries and using fire extinguishers, interaction of medication, use of e-prescriptions, applying for care services, etc. are also being planned or have already been held in some municipalities.
The next exchange is scheduled to take place in Kleve in summer 2025.
