Referendum on possible "Reichswald National Park": Kleve district votes against an application

The district of Kleve has completed the counting of the referendum. The citizens of the district of Kleve were called upon to decide whether the district of Kleve should apply to the state of North Rhine-Westphalia for the realization of a possible national park with the area of the Reichswald.

A majority of 52.7 percent have now answered this question with "NO". The district of Kleve will therefore not submit an application for a possible "Reichswald National Park" to the NRW Ministry of the Environment.

110,848 eligible voters took part in the referendum "YES to the Reichswald National Park". This corresponds to 41.8 percent of the citizens entitled to vote in the district of Kleve.

In addition, there were around 5,000 of the approximately 115,830 voting documents submitted that had to be counted as "votes not cast" after the count. This applies, for example, to voting documents that were incomplete, contained too many ballot envelopes or where the secrecy of the ballot was not guaranteed.
