Kleve district - The first construction phase on Altwettener Weg (district road 33) in the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer, which was originally planned to run until the end of 2024, was completed ahead of schedule thanks to the optimization of the construction processes and coordination of the construction work by Kreis Kleve Bauverwaltungs-GmbH (KKB) and Landesbetrieb Straßen.NRW. As a result, traffic can "roll" along Altwettener Weg again from Wednesday, August 28, 2024.
Straßen.NRW had already completed its work to create the new junction at the beginning of August. KKB is currently still carrying out the asphalt work and pavement construction on this section of the K33 district road until August 28. Once the section has been approved, Straßen.NRW will begin further work to create the L486n (OW1) next to district road 33. This will be followed in a second construction phase by the fundamental renovation of the Altwettener Weg from the Wetten through road to the junction with the L486n. The work is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2025. The Altwettener Weg will have to be fully closed again for this. The district of Kleve will provide information about the start in good time.
