Over 2,000 participants under the motto "Moving together" in the St. Jakob brine garden

From July 29 to August 16, 2024, Kevelaer residents, visitors from the surrounding area and holidaymakers once again had the opportunity to get a taste of various exercise and health activities at the "Atempause" event. Under the motto "Moving together", the varied and free course program in the St. Jakob brine garden was once again offered by Kevelaer Marketing in cooperation with local partners. The "Atempause" was supported by Volksbank an der Niers, the "Sport im Park" project of the North Rhine-Westphalia State Sports Association and KreisSportBund Kleve e.V. as a cooperation partner with AOK Rheinland/Hamburg and AOK NordWest. At the end of the three-week event, the comedy "Eingeschlossene Gesellschaft" on the large open-air screen provided a few laughs and a critical look at the German education system.

114 courses offered special variety

In addition to well-known courses such as Liebscher-Bracht exercise classes, line dancing, various types of yoga, day hikes, back fitness and breathing training, new exercise options also aroused the interest of participants. This year, for example, a guided bike tour, cornhole, herbal tours, SportBox workouts and dance classes enriched the program for the first time. The children's program was also very well received by the young sports enthusiasts. The "aqua gymnastics" course set a new record with around 80 participants. Unfortunately, the changeable weather with strong heat and rain in the third week led to a few cancellations. Thanks to the support with fresh fruit and cool drinks from Edeka Brüggemeier, the participants were well looked after at all times.

Healthy in Kevelaer

"As a recently designated spa town with healing springs, Kevelaer will be an increasingly popular destination for people with respiratory diseases in the future. With its health and exercise offerings, the 'Atempause' will therefore also be a permanent fixture in the event calendar in the future," says Verena Rohde, Business Development Manager and Head of Kevelaer Marketing. With its graduation tower and Kneipp basins, barefoot path, inhalatorium, boules courts, outdoor exercise equipment and breathing path, the St. Jakob brine garden offers the perfect area for exercise and relaxation.

"Enclosed society" in the St. Jakob brine garden

The popular open-air cinema took place in the unique setting of the graduation house on August 16, 2024. Kevelaer Marketing presented the comedy "Eingeschlossene Gesellschaft" together with the Volksbank an der Niers. Visitors took their places early on the large lawn and enjoyed a cool drink as well as fresh popcorn and hot snacks from the Basilika Stuebchen. A particularly colorful picture emerged shortly after the film began, as visitors pulled out their umbrellas to protect themselves from the persistent rain. Around 250 cinema fans attended this special open-air movie night, braving the unstable weather and enjoying the unique atmosphere.
