Specialist for event technology (m/f/d)
Location: Concert and stage house ("Kevelaer Marketing" department - "Culture" division)
In this three-year apprenticeship, we will make you fit in theory and practice!
Event technology specialists provide technical, organizational and design services for events (e.g. various stage events such as theater performances, cabarets, etc.). The prospective event technology specialists prepare the selection and use of technical equipment: They set up and install lighting, projection and sound systems. During an event, for example, they operate control and mixing desks or fog machines.
The relevant knowledge and skills are taught as part of the practical work in the concert and stage house in the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer as well as through vocational school lessons (Berufskolleg Stadtmitte of the town of Mühlheim an der Ruhr).
In the training company, the trainees learn, for example:
- inspect event venues, shell structures and buildings for safety and apply building regulations and fire protection regulations
- Selecting, installing, mounting and removing headlights
- Determine camera positions, set up, connect, commission and dismantle imaging equipment
- Selecting and positioning microphones
- Receive and provide audio inputs and outputs, taking into account level and adaptation
- to make video and audio recordings
- Selecting and using special effects
- Evaluate manuscripts and stage directions for technical and creative realization
- Evaluate locations for superstructures in terms of load-bearing capacity, stability and fastening options and arrange for the necessary technical inspections to be carried out
- Carry out event conception and planning in coordination with the customer
In addition, knowledge about topics such as rights and obligations during training, organization of the training company and environmental protection is taught throughout the training.
At vocational school, further knowledge is acquired in job-specific fields of study (e.g. energy supply and lighting, stage technology) as well as in general education subjects such as German and politics.
We are looking for people who are committed and willing to learn, who communicate positively and are open to new
ideas. We expect:
- At least Fachoberschulreife (average grade of at least 3.0 in mathematical and technical subjects)
- High motivation, willingness to perform and learn
- Technical understanding and manual dexterity
- Diligence, a sense of responsibility and prudence
- organizational skills

The pilgrimage town of Kevelaer regularly trains one trainee (m/f/d) in this profession. As a rule, the training position is reallocated every three years (after the previous trainee (m/f/d) has completed their training).
